I think one of the most frustrating things about any endeavor, spiritual or otherwise is when you’re given advice that is impossible to use. Like “Going with the flow”. It’s hard to flow with your current circumstances when you're in danger or you lack stability. How do you get into a space of ease and flow to connect and manifest when you’re dealing with that? The truth is, there is no one answer to that question.
People can suggest meditation, sound healing, and journaling all day long, and while each of those things may help, sometimes, it’s just not enough. Sometimes, the only thing that can shift you into the flow is time. Nobody wants to hear this when they are in distress and are looking to change things for the better, but sometimes, we simply have to wait until the waters we’re in are less troubled. What we do while we’re waiting drastically affects where we are headed. And you can’t always wait to be in the flow to do what needs to be done.
Practicing gratitude, prayer, honoring your ancestors and spirit guides, showing up and supporting loved ones, resting with intention, making art, and delving into things that fulfill you are all amazing ways to spend your time, especially when you’re feeling like you’re outside of the flow. When there’s friction and discomfort, things lke this are what set you on the course you want to be on. These practices are like your oars. It requires effort to utilize them and it can seem pointless when you feel like the current is moving against you. But it does pay off in the end. Eventually, you do arrive at a wave you can ride with intention instead of one that gives you hell.
I came to tell you that it’s okay if you’re in a place that’s not so peaceful and calm. It’s okay if you’re shaken, nervous, feeling like you need to force things instead of flow with them. If you feel like you need to exert force to stay afloat, that’s alright. But examine what the situation calls for because finding the flow will most likely require a different approach. Like listening instead of insisting. Resting instead of laboring. Surrendering instead of resisting. Staying instead of running.
Be sure that the force is working for you and not against you. Then look toward better days. I promise, your flow is waiting for you.
