Routines That Work
Thoughts on how we relate to our routines as we approach Mercury Retrograde in Virgo
I’ve talked at length about how important it is to allow our structures to shift and change. I’ve stressed how we should not be a prisoner to our routines.
Experimental/Experiential Personal Development
Peace, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and rethinking about my personal development journey, which got me thinking about ya’ll. Because I would describe Walking The Path by saying I write about personal development that is powered by spirituality. (Nice blurb, right?) Lately, I’ve been really leaning into the concept of my development being one big, on…
Our relationships to our routines have to include flexibility, grace, and curiosity. I was flexible with the Walking the Path routine, allowing myself to upload this post on Sunday instead of Wednesday. But it was still important that I keep the momentum going.
I have to say, this post is very obligatory. I said I would write it, so I’m writing it. I’m in the midst of doing a lot. I’m building a new life and integrating new downloads... I don’t yet feel like I’m in a space to communicate my thoughts and revelations because I’m still in the updating phase - you know how when your computer is updating, you can’t run any programs? That’s where I’m at.
I’m loading.
But I need to stay consistent with my commitment to this publication. Not just because I said I would, but because it’s essential as I continue constructing the ecosystem of offerings I make available. The responsibilities that come with building worlds and environments that thrive require a lot. And I know that while it’s not easy, I am equipped to do this work.
Mercury is about to go retrograde through the sign of (tropical) Virgo, its own sign, starting on August 23rd. We have already been in the shadow period for awhile and I have been feeling it. I am craving the stabilizing energy of this transit because the last few weeks have been a whirlwind of action and emotions.
I’ve resolved to afford myself and others grace as we navigate this time. If things get done later than I want them to, I’m not trippin. As long as it gets done. If I need more/deeper rest to counteract the insane amount of activity and energy I have to output, so be it. If I have to re-organize and plan something several times because I missed something the first or second or third time, then fine.
It’s not about keeping my routines exactly the same. It’s about honoring my needs and balancing that with what needs to be done. It’s about doing the work to the best of my ability and forgiving myself if it isn’t perfect. It’s about maintaining consistency to the best of my ability and honing my crafts with love instead of perfectionism.
I hope ya’ll will take these ideas into account and apply them as you need to throughout the rest of this month and September.
Do the work, but afford yourself grace.
